The Barkann Family Healing Hearts Foundation would like to introduce your family, friends, and colleagues to our Holiday Hearts program.
This year’s annual program began on Monday, October 19th. Please join our team as we look to provide financial assistance, gifts, and holiday cheer to families who need a boost during what should be a most special time of the year for everyone.
Monetary donations received will be given directly to the families and their children so our financial support can be visibly seen and felt during the most charitable time of the year – the holiday season!
Despite how challenging this year has been for our team at The Barkann Foundation, we are committed to hosting our Annual Holiday Hearts Program this holiday season.
Although, we will not be able to host a Holiday Hearts Party to deliver gifts to each family, we will be collecting gift cards and will provide a check for each family that the social workers we work with have referred to us.
These families are in need of our love and support as they have been through so much this year and are experiencing quite a bit of adversity during these challenging times for their family.
Please share your love and open your hearts this holiday season by helping to put smiles on the faces of many children and provide financial support to their families.

Thank you for supporting The W Family this holiday season, they are so grateful for your love and support!
HW – 1 year old (male)
AW – 5 years old (female)
QW – 8 years old (male)
HW was born prematurely and spent the first year of his life in the hospital. He has a tracheostomy and is ventilator dependent and was able to go home from the hospital just after his first birthday.
This extended hospitalization has caused financial hardship for the family which has reduced Mom’s ability to work the amount of hours she has worked in the past.
Now that HW is home, Mm has had to reduce her hours at work to ensure that she is available when she has a nurse call out, etc.
This holiday support will help Mom in such a big way so that she doesn’t have to worry about how to afford to pay for gifts and can instead focus the money she earns on household necessities and monthly bills.
AL – Two Year Old (male)
AL spent over the first year of his life in the NICU and then was transitioned to live at pediatric specialty care.
This summer, AL’s Mother completed the necessary training to be able to take AL home with her.
She is a single parent and it working very hard to meet AL’s needs.
Mom relies heavily on home nursing as AL is trach/vent dependent which essentially means he is walking around on life support.
AL has now been alive for 2 Christmases and this will be his first one home with his Mother.
Mom does her best to make ends meet by working several jobs while home nurses care for AL.
Assistance from The Barkann Foundation would go a long way in helping her make AL’s first Christmas at home a truly special
Thank you for supporting AL and his family this holiday season through The Barkann Foundation’s Holiday Hearts Program.

January 13th of this year he began what was supposed to be 42 weeks of chemo and 30 radiation treatments. The end date has come and gone, but DR is still in treatment due to sicknesses during the treatment that have set him back.
After chemo and radiation, DR will be evaluated for surgery to remove any possible left over cancer. This will put him out of work longer.
DR was such a hard worker, but has not been able to work due to side effects from the chemo.
DR has a wife and a 5 year old daughter who are fighting along with him!
The support provided by The Barkann Foundation’s Holiday Hearts Program will provide DR’s daughter the Christmas gifts that she deserves.
She has been forced this year to grow up faster than she should have. Her strength in this situation is amazing. She is always there to love her daddy when he needs it the most.
DR is always more concerned about her well being than his own. He would love to make her happy on Christmas morning.

(4) Children ranging in ages from 20 Months- 13 Years Old.
On May 17th of this year (DT), 32 years old, was heading home to his family after checking in on his Mother at her home. (DT) was struck and killed by a hit and run driver and left in the road to die.
Channel 6 news would broadcast this event in hopes of finding the driver who committed the act. The driver has not yet been found.
(DT) was a wonderful Husband, Son and Father. (DT) was also active in his Church and was strong in his faith. He was a valued employee with Waste Management Services as a full time truck driver.
ET (Wife & Mom) is a Quality Management Coordinator for the Developmental Programs for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and was working from home at this time due to the Governor’s mandated quarantine due to Covid 19.
The navigation of daily life during the pandemic (working from home, schooling the children at home while keeping everyone safe) would prove to be nothing compared to the devastating loss her young family would experience with DT’s untimely and tragic death.
The strength and resolve that this young widow has shown in her most darkest of times is nothing short of astonishing.
This family’s loss is such an emotional and devastating one- not to mention a financial one with the loss of DT’s income just months into the family becoming home owners.
With the state of the world in the midst of a pandemic there is so much uncertainty but this wonderful Mom who is now raising four children on her own, told me she is totally reliant on her faith in God to see her through.
ET has devoted her life’s work into helping others and is a believer in all things good. ET is one of the most special people I have ever met and her family is so deserving of your goodness.
Any financial assistance provided to this wonderful family will help them to continue to navigate this new way of life they are forced to live without DT, their beloved Husband and Father.
Simple payments of utility bills are a hardship at this time given their financial circumstances. Mom will need to remain so strong for herself and for her family during this time of grieving.
Any financial assistance at all would give her just a little room to breathe. Knowing Mom she will rely heavily on her faith to see her through this tragic event spiritually.
Financially she could use some real help but would never ask for it.
We truly appreciate The Barkann Foundation and its wonderful community of supporters who will bring some much needed love, hope, and comfort to the T Family this holiday season.
In addition to the Wish Lists that we have created for each family, we also are asking for our supporters to make a monetary sponsorship in support of each of the Holiday Hearts Families.
