The Maple Point Middle School 7th Annual Mother’s Day Walk-A-Thon

The Barkann Family Healing Hearts Foundation is thrilled to be partnered with Maple Point Middle School of the Neshaminy School District in Langhorne, PA for the 7th Annual Mother’s Day Walk-A-Thon which will take place on Friday, May 17th at Maple Point Middle School (Rain Date: May 24th).

This is your child’s chance to walk with their classmates on May 17th in support of some very special Mom’s who are in need at this time. Each student will help make their Mother’s Day extra special by participating in the Walk-A-Thon.

While construction continues to move forward throughout the perimeter of the school, we have chosen a great path for our students to complete their Walk safely to Community Park.

Parents are encouraged and welcome to join their Child to participate in the Walk-A-Thon. We will post the approximate times that each class will walk as we get closer to May 5th.

With your child’s registration of $5.00 for the Walk, each student will receive a soft pretzel and water and will be eligible to win some great prizes such as Gift Cards to Amazon, Chick-Fil-A, Starbucks, 5 Below, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Chipotle, and Lululemon.

Also, we are selling T-Shirts for the Walk-A-Thon which can be purchased here for $10.00. T-Shirt Orders will be filled and distributed to the students during lunch in the Cafeteria the week leading up to the Walk.

On Friday, May 17th we will pick 2 Winners from each grade (5th-8th) who will each receive (2) Phillies Tickets to a game in May or June at Citizens Bank Park.

Lastly, we would like to thank Mrs. Irizarry, Mrs. Negrotti, Mrs. Pinkstone, Mrs. Curran, Mr. O’Leary, Mrs. Bennett, Mr. Kelly, Mrs. Merchiore, Mrs. McDonough, Mrs. Koster, Mr. Sokol, Mr. French and all of the teachers who have made this Walk such a huge success over the last 6 years.

The Maple Point Middle School Community is such a big part of our Healing Hearts Family.

We are so excited to see you all for the Mother’s Day-Walk-A-Thon on Friday, May 17th.

If you have any questions whatsoever, please don’t hesitate to contact Mike Barnes at mike@thebarkannfoundation.org.

Family Stories

SM's Family Story

SM is a single mom to 3 young boys. Seven years ago her mom, who was her best friend and a great source of support, passed away unexpectedly. Two days later, as they planned the funeral, she found out that the lump she had biopsied was breast cancer. She underwent treatment and a mastectomy. Sadly, her cancer has since metastasized and is now in other organs. She receives regular, ongoing treatment to help fight this awful disease. Recent treatments have been unsuccessful, forcing SM to stop working in order to focus on her health. These past several years have been hard for the family not only emotionally and physically, but also financially. Any and all help is greatly appreciated in supporting this mom, who is truly in the fight of her life, and her three young boys.
